Barely Standing but Still Holding On

SUMMARY :
Jesus has always been close, even right now. God shows up in our wrestling, questions, and even in our darkest nights. We may not see it in the moment; Jacob didn’t either. And when you look back, you may have scars, but they’re reminders of how God was with you the whole time.

Maybe it’s not that you’ve walked away from God, but you’ve got questions. Why didn’t He stop this?
Why won’t He fix it? This week, we’re looking at a story that might be exactly what you need. It’s not a tidy one, but there’s something in it for anyone who’s struggling and refuses to let go.

KEY SCRIPTURE :
This left Jacob all alone in the camp, and a man came and wrestled with him until the dawn began to break.
Genesis 32:24 NLT

HIGHLIGHTS :
Honesty isn’t what keeps you bound.
Honesty is where the blessing starts.

What To Do When God Feels Silent

SUMMARY :
While we face troubles and trials today, we can remember the hope we have in Jesus. God doesn’t always show us why, but we can still pursue and trust Him. Sometimes God intervenes, other times He doesn’t. Either way, you can enjoy Him in the good times and get to know Him in the flames.

Sometimes, life hits hard. And before you know it, you’re wondering if God even sees what you’re going through. We’re talking about what to do when God feels silent-and why that silence isn’t the end of the story.

KEY SCRIPTURE :
…“King Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.”
Daniel 3:16-18 NIV

HIGHLIGHTS :
•Jesus won’t always keep you from the fire, but He’ll always meet you in it.

Trusting God Without Understanding

SUMMARY :
Putting our faith in God isn’t always about what we see—it’s about knowing who He is. The story of Abraham and Isaac foreshadows how Jesus, the Son of God, would sacrifice His life so we could find full life in Him. Today, we can trust Jesus because of His sacrificial love, even when we don’t understand.

What if the greatest story ever told is bigger than you thought? It’s easy to assume Jesus was only present for part of the story. But in our series, Jesus Always, we’ll look back and discover that Jesus was there from the beginning-and that He’s right here, in whatever we’re facing today.

KEY SCRIPTURE :
… As the two of them went on together, Isaac spoke up and said to his father Abraham, “Father?” “Yes, my son?” Abraham replied. “The fire and wood are here,” Isaac said, “but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?” … “God himself will provide the lamb …”
Genesis 22:6-8 NIV
Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing at the center of the throne …
Revelation 5:6 NIV

HIGHLIGHTS :
•The tomb is empty—therefore, through Him, anything is possible!

When You Don’t Feel Like Praying

SUMMARY :
Prayer is talking with God, which requires submitting to a holy King. It is also where we learn complete dependence on our heavenly Father. If prayer feels challenging, remember that we don’t need self-discipline to pray more; we simply need to learn greater dependence on God. As you pray, be specific, be persistent, be expectant, and be yourself.

Does prayer ever feel like a transaction to you?
You bring a need and wait for an answer. But God wants so much more than that! Let’s find out what it really looks!

KEY SCRIPTURE :
“This, then, is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’”
Matthew 6:9-13 NIV

HIGHLIGHTS :
•Prayer is how we live in complete dependence on our heavenly Father.
•petitionary prayer: asking for ourselves
•intercessory prayer: asking for others
•In what areas are you prayerless?
•We don’t need self-discipline to pray more; we simply need to learn greater dependence on God.
•Powerful Prayer Principles
-Be specific.
-Be persistent.
-Be expectant.
-Be yourself.

“Sometimes prayer doesn’t appeal to us.
Prayer can be neatly placed in the ‘boring, but important’ category of life, alongside Leviticus, algebra, and flossing.”
Pete Greig, Founder 24-7 Prayer

Praying When You Don’t Know What To Say

SUMMARY :
Prayer is simply talking with God, but sometimes it’s challenging to do. If we don’t know the purpose for our prayers, it’s easy for them to become our last resort or a check-box item before bed.
The purpose of prayer is not to get something from God, but to be with Him and become like Him.

Ever wondered if prayer actually works-or how to even do it? It seems like a good thing, but you don’t want to get it wrong. What if it’s simpler than you think? Our new series, How to Pray, starts this week.

•When Christianity is cultural, the King becomes common, and your approach becomes casual.
•Prayer is talking with God.
•Prayer is submitting to a holy King.
God’s kingdom is greater than my needs or my desires.
•His plan is better than my brand.
•Our approach to prayer is kingdom-focused, seeking His will above our own.
